PIETERMARITZBURG DBC FUNCTIONAL REHABILITATION CENTRE’S LAUNCH

-

Worrying about severe back and neck pain will soon be a thing of the past for those individuals suffering from long-term spinal and chronic back and neck pain. This after director of the DBC Functional rehabilitation Centre, Ashleigh Hall, held an event of his newly launched Pietermaritzburg DBC centre, registered under Hall, Naidoo and Associates. The DBC centre is located at Central Office Park - 217 Boom Street, Pietermaritzburg.

Ashleigh Hall is a registered Biokineticist with over 17 years of experience and is a DBC accredited specialist in back, neck and spinal rehabilitation.

The DBC (Document Based Care) Active Spine Treatment System was developed in Finland over the past 20 years and today the DBC network spans treatment providers in more than 22 countries on five continents.

The back and neck treatment programme help individuals living with chronic back and neck pain to treat the cause of their pain and improve their quality of life. The treatment consists of active exercise with appropriate weights and motion and incorporates the best protocols using questionnaires and measurements to assess the severity of the back or neck problem.

The programme aims to improve functional ability and work capability - successfully and effectively.

The DBC system is completely evidence and outcomes-based with a current success rate of 90% after an average of 3-6 weeks of treatment. The programme is based on a scientifically proven treatment protocol. This treatment protocol is applied worldwide to treat and manage back and neck conditions that often involve prolonged and severe pain.

For most patients, pain decreases during the active treatment period. The programme takes a comprehensive and holistic approach to chronic pain and offers individualised treatment to patients. This multidisciplinary programme includes treatment from inter-disciplinary medical doctors, physiotherapists and biokineticists specialising in assessing and treating musculoskeletal injuries, preventing movement disorders, restoring normal function, and reducing dysfunction and pain.

Individuals that are experiencing severe back and neck pain and are part of leading medical aids qualify for the DBC program, funded by the risk management fund covering the full cost of the programme. After the initial treatment, a homebased programme to maintain results long-term will be provided.

The DBC centre’s launch event included those individuals that are suffering with long term back and neck pain, as well as attendees from various institutes that will collaborate and work together with the centre to avoid patient surgery and treat the root cause of their pain.
