Hindi Shiksha Sangh celebrates 75 years

The Hindi Shiksha Sangh, South Africa, was establishe­d in 1948. Its primary mandate is to promote the Hindi language. Over the past 74 years, the sangh has been able to deliver on this mandate through the dedicated efforts of its Hindi teachers.

• To promote and encourage the learning of the Hindi language in all its aspects, more especially in the written and oral traditions.

• To promote the academic study of Hindi literature and Hindi religious scriptures.

• To create an awareness of, promote and propagate the rich traditions of North Indian Culture with special reference to North Indian music, dance, drama and the arts.

To commemorat­e this momentous occasion we have embarked on a Bhajan evening featuring local groups. The first of the celebratio­ns have already began in Durban in 2022 and now it is the Midlands Region which is hosting a fabulous evening of soulful bhajans by well known artists from

Pietermari­tzburg namely JMK bhajan group and followed by a sensationa­l rendition of soul stirring bhajans by Pundit Lalit Panday.

This event takes place on the April 15, 2023 at the GVS Hall in Royston Road starting at 6:30 pm. Tickets for this event are available at R50.00 donation.

All funds received will go towards the cultural day which comprises song, dance, sketch and prose reading by the various Hindi school students as well as transport for students from out of town to participat­e in various activities held at the HSSA Head Office in Durban.
