Opportunities to study in India now open
The Consulate General of India, Durban, is offering 100 scholarships under the Lata Mangeshkar Dance & Music scholarship scheme for pursuing the study of Indian culture such as dance, music, theatre, performing arts, sculpture, Indian cuisine, etc., at Indian universities/ institutes for the 2023/2024 academic year.
Interested international students can submit their application online via the ICCR'S A2A portal at www. a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in. Applicants are advised to do thorough research on the specific admission criteria laid down by the various universities for each subject, and ensure that all relevant documents are submitted as required in addition to the basic certificates mentioned on the application form. Applications must be submitted by April 30, 2023.
Applicants should be between 18 -30 years old and for the PHD programme, an age limit of 45 years applies. Applicants have the option to apply to five universities or institutes in order of their preference of study. Placement to a particular university is subject to availability of seats and the course that has been chosen.
The scholarship includes return economy class airfares to the nearest airport to the place of study as well as tuition fees to the institute and a monthly stipend. Personal medical insurance is a mandatory requirement for the scholarship.
Only students in English may apply for admission as all teaching is done in English. A 500 word essay in English has been introduced to ascertain English proficiency.
