SAVE-ORION RACE
Save-orion Athletic Club’s annual race, takes place on Sunday November 19. The race will start and finish at the Msundusi Athletics Stadium, Princess Margaret Drive, Pietermaritzburg.
The race will utilise Alexandra, Commercial, Greyling, Retief and Victoria Streets. Runners will then run through the Alexandra Park, passing the Oval Cricket Stadium and finishing at the Athletics Stadium. The 21km is a double lap. The route will be publicised on social and print media shortly.
Excitement is mounting especially as a 5km Fun Run/walk has now also been incorporated. Part of this route will be run through the park as well.
The 10 & 21.1km events will start at 5am, whilst the 5km will start at 8am.
On offer will be T-shirts as well as medals. As usual there will be fantastic goodie bags and lucky draw prizes offered, one being, where two lucky draw winners stand a chance to win a trip to the 2024 Two Oceans Marathon Tour via a luxury coach. Entry fee for the 21.1km event is R250.00 and the 10km is R160.00. Temporary licences for non-licenced athletes at R80-00 and R60-00 respectively will also be available.
Entry fee for the 5km event is R70-00. Participants will qualify for a goodie bag and medals.
Athletes can enter online by logging onto www.webtickets.co.za or drop off their manual entries at Save Hyper – No cash will be accepted at the store – Athletes will need to do an EFT into the club account and attach their proof of payment together with their entry form before placing their entries into the entry box.
Participants can also enter and pay at any Pick-n-pay or Boxer Stores.
Entry forms can be downloaded via www.finishtime.co.za and will also be available at Save Hyper, Save Supermarkets outlets as well as at Poobie Naidoo Sports. Watch this space as we build up to race day. An exciting day to remember is envisaged.
