Time to rock around the Christmas tree

-

Singer and songwriter, Matt Gardiner, will be among the performers taking to the stage at the Olivier Cultural Centre at Maritzburg College at 6.30pm on Friday, November 25, for Rockin' round the Christmas tree: A Christmas show.

Produced by Mary-ann Hartley and directed by Brandon Loelly, the show also stars Loelly, Dux Myaka, Caleb van Rensburg and Sthembile Gumede.

Gardiner performs around South Africa and was recently signed up by Sony Music Publishing. He has just released his new single, Hometown Drama.

Loelly has been taking a break from performing internationally in Turkey, Egypt and Germany and has been a soloist and director in the shows, Time Warp, Moving the Line 1, Moving The Line 2 and All or Nothing.

Also appearing as a soloist in these productions was Gumede, a classically trained vocal powerhouse who can sing anything from opera to jazz and contemporary.

Nineteen-year-old Van Rensburg has a rich baritone voice which thrilled audiences in Moving the Line 2 and All or Nothing.

Myaka and Mbali Nkosi are both teachers and choir directors of school choirs and they bring a fresh approach to traditional and contemporary songs.

A vocal ensemble of 18 boys from the Maritzburg College Choir and College band, Vinyl Vortex, complete the line-up for a show which promises to both entertain and move audiences.

The songs on the programme are both contemporary and traditional and include some of the most beautiful Christmas songs ever written.

Seating is at tables of six to eight. Audience members must bring their own drinks and snacks. Tea, coffee and mince pies will be provided.

Tickets are R120 (pensioners R100, pupils 12 years and older R80). To book email hartley.mah@gmail.com
