CHINESE SUV “COUPÉ”

HAVAL H6 C NOW AVAILABLE

-

The Chinese manufacturer Haval has recently extended its local line-up – consisting of the rebadged H1 and the very accomplished H2 – with the H6 C: a mid-size SUV “coupé” (according to the automaker the “C” stands for Coupé).

While not fitting the traditional coupé description, the new mid-sized SUV has pleasing lines and a svelte look, reinforcing the styling traits introduced by the H2. It also shares the Mitsubishiderived engine of the H2 – a two-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol mill delivering 140 kw and 310 Nm of torque between 2,000 and 3,600 r/min, giving it brisk acceleration – 0 to 100 km/h coming up in 9 seconds, according to Haval.

Power is transferred to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic (DCT) or six-speed manual transmission, and 4WD versions are available on special order. The H6 C is available in three trim levels: City, Premium, and Luxury. Standard equipment across the range include ESP (Electronic Stability Program), Hill Ascent and Descent Control, adjustable front seatbelts with pre-tensioners, a reverse camera, and child locks.

All derivatives, bar City-spec vehicles, have six airbags – helping the range to achieve a fivestar crash safety rating. Other features include standard dual-zone climate control, electric foldable side mirrors with demister, keyless entry, steering wheel controls, auto headlights and wipers, and a top-notch sound system.

Pricing is very competitive, with the entry-level 2.0T City manual available at R329,900, the 2.0T Premium manual for R339,900, the 2.0T Luxury manual for R359,900, and the top-model 2.0T DCT Luxury 4X2 for R389,900.
