VELAR IS HERE
NEW RANGE ROVER INTRODUCED
The new Range Rover Velar – which, according to Land Rover, is the most customisable model in its range – will be launched in South Africa this month. The new Rangie will be available in normal and R-dynamic variants, and four specification levels – Base, S, SE, and HSE – will be offered, as well as the First Edition variant – a flagship limited edition model only available in a single, high-specification trim with every available option.
All the derivatives and trim levels available with a choice of Ingenium will be 2-litre four-cylinder and 3-litre six-cylinder diesel engines delivering from 132 kw to a massive 280 kw of power. The Velar will be available with 17 different wheel designs, 13 exterior paint colours, and three exterior trim packs.
Inside, customers will be able to choose from 15 material finishes, including premium finishes from the Danish textile firm Kvadrat, as well as a steering wheel trimmed in suede-cloth.
Also available will be matrix-laser LED headlights, as well as Land Rover’s all-new Incontrol Touch Pro Duo infotainment system featuring two 10” high-definition touchscreens seamlessly integrated into the central console. All the models feature air suspension, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics.
The price for the entry-level 2.0 diesel 132 kw Base and 2.0 petrol 184 kw Base is set at R947,700, while the top-line R-dynamic model, the 3.0 diesel 221 kw HSE, will retail for R1,346,400, and the Velar First Edition (only available on special order) will be available for a cool R1,539,800.
