The new Range Rover Ve­lar – which, ac­cord­ing to Land Rover, is the most cus­tomis­able model in its range – will be launched in South Africa this month. The new Rangie will be avail­able in nor­mal and R-dy­namic vari­ants, and four spec­i­fi­ca­tion lev­els – Base, S, SE, and HSE – will be of­fered, as well as the First Edi­tion vari­ant – a flag­ship lim­ited edi­tion model only avail­able in a sin­gle, high-spec­i­fi­ca­tion trim with ev­ery avail­able op­tion.

All the de­riv­a­tives and trim lev­els avail­able with a choice of In­ge­nium will be 2-litre four-cylin­der and 3-litre six-cylin­der diesel en­gines de­liv­er­ing from 132 kw to a mas­sive 280 kw of power. The Ve­lar will be avail­able with 17 dif­fer­ent wheel de­signs, 13 ex­te­rior paint colours, and three ex­te­rior trim packs.

In­side, cus­tomers will be able to choose from 15 ma­te­rial fin­ishes, in­clud­ing pre­mium fin­ishes from the Dan­ish tex­tile firm Kvadrat, as well as a steer­ing wheel trimmed in suede-cloth.

Also avail­able will be ma­trix-laser LED head­lights, as well as Land Rover’s all-new In­con­trol Touch Pro Duo in­fo­tain­ment sys­tem fea­tur­ing two 10” high-def­i­ni­tion touch­screens seam­lessly in­te­grated into the cen­tral con­sole. All the mod­els fea­ture air suspension, an eight-speed au­to­matic trans­mis­sion, and all-wheel drive with In­tel­li­gent Driv­e­line Dy­nam­ics.

The price for the en­try-level 2.0 diesel 132 kw Base and 2.0 petrol 184 kw Base is set at R947,700, while the top-line R-dy­namic model, the 3.0 diesel 221 kw HSE, will re­tail for R1,346,400, and the Ve­lar First Edi­tion (only avail­able on spe­cial or­der) will be avail­able for a cool R1,539,800.
