NEXT GEN PIK-UP
Indian automaker Mahindra has introduced the Next Generation Mahindra Pik Up in South Africa. And while Mahindra insist on calling it the Pik-up, the newcomer is for all intents and purposes a version of the Scorpio SUV.
Based on the same ladder-frame platform as the recently facelifted Scorpio, the Pik Up shares the substantially restyled front end of the SUV with a new grille design, utilising a gloss black finish and chrome accents, a more prominent badge, and a reshaped lower air intake.
The headlights are also new, with a cleaner, less fussy appearance, new curved LED daytime running lights (for the flagship S10 Double Cab version), and bolder fog lamps in restyled apertures under the headlights.
The cabin now sports better upholstery and trim, as well as a large full-colour touchscreen display for the S10 Double Cab models. The flagship model also benefits from remote central locking, cruise control, navigation, a multifunction steering wheel, auto wipers, headlamp control, and 16-inch alloy wheels.
The Pik Up is powered by an updated version of the trusty 2.2-litre four-cylinder mhawk turbodiesel engine (103 kw and 320 Nm of torque) linked to a six-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels, or a 4×4 transmission with low range.the entire range is fitted with difflock and has a towing capacity of 2,500 kg. The S4 Single Cab 4×2 is available from R187,995 (with optional service plan), the S6 Single Cab 4x2 from R239,995, and the S6 Single Cap 4×4 from R284 99. The S10 Double Cab 4×2 is available from R324,995 and the S10 Double Cap 4×4 from R354,995.
