The best-sell­ing pas­sen­ger car in South Africa, the Volk­swa­gen Polo Vivo, has been ex­panded with the ad­di­tion of a sized-up de­riv­a­tive, the Maxx. This model is only of­fered in the hatch body style and boasts a num­ber of ex­clu­sive ex­te­rior and in­te­rior fea­tures.

The ex­te­rior fea­tures in­clude a 15 mm raised sus­pen­sion, 17-inch ‘Canyon’ al­loy wheels, sil­ver coloured ex­te­rior mir­rors, Maxx let­ter­ing on the tailgate and sides, a sporty sin­gle-pipe ex­haust sys­tem with a chrome trim, and alu­minium roof rails.

In­side the Vivo Maxx has sport pedal clus­ters, a cen­tre con­sole in coloured trim, an on-board com­puter, front elec­tric win­dows, a man­ual air-con­di­tioner, a three-spoke leather multi-func­tion steer­ing wheel with alu­minium insert, a colour touch ra­dio with SD/USB/ Blue­tooth/app Con­nect and six speak­ers, as well as loose lay car­pets mats.

The Maxx comes stan­dard with a driver and front pas­sen­ger airbags, ABS with EBD, Elec­tronic Sta­bil­ity Con­trol (ESC), a tyre pres­sure mon­i­tor, Isofix mount­ing points, front fog lights, an im­mo­biliser, ul­tra­sonic alarm, and cen­tral lock­ing.

The Vivo Maxx is pow­ered by the 77 kw 1.6-litre en­gine used in the Polo range, mated to a five-speed man­ual trans­mis­sion. It costs R225,000 and the price in­cludes a three-year/120 000 km war­ranty.
