HIACE 14-SEATER RE-INTRODUCED

-

Following the release of the new Quantum in May 2019 (sporting the new semi-bonnet design) Toyota South Africa has decided to re-introduce the 14-seat version of the previousgeneration people-carrier under the Hiace nameplate.

Whilst the new ‘semi-bonnet’ Quantum has moved up in calibre, demand still exists for a value-focused peoplemover. With this in mind, the previous generation 14-seater Quantum has been rebranded as Hiace – joining the Ses’fikile 16-seater minibus under this naming convention. Specifications for the people-mover remain unchanged, with only a single diesel model with a proven 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine delivering 75 kw and 260 Nm and driving the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission being made available. A simplified two-colour line-up comprising Ivory White and Quicksilver metallic has been adopted.

Another key differentiator between the new-generation 14-seat Quantum and the re-introduced Hiace 14-seater is the license requirement of the driver. Due to GVM classification, the Hiace 14-seater remains classified as a Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) and thus does not require a Code 10 license, as is needed for the Quantum.

The new 14-seater Hiace 2.5D GL Bus is now available for R571,900, with the Quantum 14-seater trading for R635 000. The Quantum 2.8 LWB GL 11-seater now sells for R618 700 and the premium Quantum 2.8 LWB VX nine-seater for R843 600.
