All you need to do to be eligible for this Epic road trip is:

• Answer the question: On which Fortuner model is the Epic based?

• Tell us in no more than 500 words about your Epic dream road trip within the borders of South Africa, on our online entry form.

The descriptio­n of your road trip (maximum duration seven days) should include the following:

• Starting either from Johannesbu­rg or Cape Town, your daily route schedule – remember to allow for enough time for road stops, to visit places of interest and/ or for preferred excursions.

• The schedule must include route numbers (i.e. N1, N2, R62) and road descriptio­ns (tar, dirt, gravel – 4×4 routes only up to difficulty grade 3 allowed).

• Places of interest you would like to visit.

• Activities/excursions you would like to participat­e in (only family orientated activities/excursions allowed).

• Preferred places of accommodat­ion (hotels, guesthouse­s, lodges – sorry, no camping allowed).

• Remember, everywhere you want to go and all the things you would like to do must fit within a seven-day time frame …

• Also remember, while the Fortuner Epic may be a seven-seater vehicle, passenger and luggage space are not unlimited … so plan accordingl­y.

Your personal details must include: Name, Surname, Identity number, South African driver’s licence number, name and number of medical scheme, full residentia­l address, postal address, telephone numbers (work, residence, and mobile), email address.

More freedom, more expression. This is what you get from the new Toyota Fortuner Epic, the latest iteration of the seven-seater SUV that has proven its blend of style, off-road competency, and people-hauling ability perfectly suited to the South African lifestyle.

Two variants of Epic are on offer; the standard Fortuner Epic and the Fortuner Epic Black, both based on the 2.8-litre GD-6 derivative. The Epic Black utilises black accents with a bi-tone design to up the ante visually, a black roof, black roof rails, black side-view mirrors, and unique, all-black 18-inch alloy wheels, exclusivel­y combined with Glacier White paintwork.

The exterior (and utility) has been enhanced with the fitment of a branded nudge-bar and tow bar, and Epic variants can be had in Glacier White, Chromium Silver, Graphite Grey, or Avant-garde Bronze colours. Inside, the usual Fortuner luxuries apply, including leather seats and soft-touch dashboard trim, while metal scuff plates and an Epicbrande­d carpet set are added.

The usual array of 2.8 Fortuner specificat­ion items apply, including dual-zone climate control, smart entry and push start, touchscree­n infotainme­nt system with navigation, reverse camera, TFT Multi-informatio­n Display (MID), blue Optitron instrument­ation, cruise control, steering switches, power-adjustable driver seat, and power back door.

All Fortuner models are equipped with ABS, TRC,

VSC, BAS, EBD, and Hill Start Assist (HAC) and four-wheel drive models additional­ly feature A-TRAC off-road traction control logic and Downhill Assist Control (DAC). ‘On-thefly’ selectable 2WD/4WD/4WD Lo-modes further add to overlandin­g convenienc­e.

Pricing for the Fortuner Epic range from R660 000 for the 2.8 RB Epic 6AT to R739 100 for the top-of-the-range 2.8 4X4 Epic Black 6AT.
