GOING XTREME

-

Mitsubishi has gone Xtreme with a more attractive, more adventurous version of its Triton 4×4 double cab auto bakkie; aimed at owners with an adventure extreme lifestyle and now available in limited numbers.

Taking on the special editions such as the Hilux Legend, Ranger Wildtrak, Navara Stealth, and Amarok Canyon, the new Triton Xtreme offers a host of upgrades valued at around R100 000, but at only R40 000 more than the current model.

This include a distinctive new black bumper and grill combo, a bonnet protector, and headlight covers. Other exterior additions include Xtreme branding, 4×4 stickers, door handle cups to protect the paint against nail scratches, roof rack supports, window visors, taillight covers, and a bold-looking, black Kekosport-style bar mounted behind the cab.

Probably the most visible addition is the fender flare kit fitted with visible bolts, giving the Xtreme a wider look. The special Triton also gets A-line Hazard alloy wheels in black, shod with Pirelli Scorpion All-terrain tyres, and a Bosal tow bar is also included. The Xtreme is powered by the proven 2.4-litre MIVEC turbodiesel engine coupled to a Super Select II 4WD system.

Some additional equipment inside include a Sport automatic shift knob, Android Auto and Apple Carplay compatibility, and a tonneau cover. The Triton Xtreme, now available for R639 995 is covered by a manufacturer warranty of three-years/100 000 km, a fiveyear/90 000 km service plan, and a five-year/ unlimited mileage roadside assistant.
