T-ROC IN SOUTH AFRICA

Less than a year since the launch of the T-cross, Volkswagen has added a fifth model to its SUV range in South Africa, the T-roc. The T-SUV range in the Southern African market now consists of the T-cross, T-roc, Tiguan, Tiguan Allspace, and the Touareg.

Slotting above the T-cross and below the Tiguan, the T-roc will be available in the following derivative­s: 1.4 TSI 110 kw Design, 2.0 TSI 140 kw 4Motion DSG Design, and the 2.0 TSI 140 kw 4Motion DSG R-line. The Design line is for customers looking for more styling elements, while the R-line is aimed at customers wanting more sporty levels of specificat­ion.

The T-roc is the first VW SUV available with two-tone paintwork, and one of the first models to display the new VW logo, locally. Based on the MQB platform, the T-roc is 80 mm longer than the T-cross and 162 mm shorter than the Tiguan. Luggage space with all five seats in place, is 445 l and it will come standard with Compositio­n Media radio and App-connect.

We Connect Go is also standard in the range. In addition to a host of safety features, I.Q Drive technologi­es are also available on the T-roc.

The 1.4 TSI eight-speed Tiptronic petrol engine (110 kw and torque of 250 Nm) gives the T-roc a 0-100 km/h time of 8.4 seconds, a top speed of 205 km/h, and fuel consumptio­n of 6.9 l/100 km. The 2.0 TSI engine with sevenspeed DSG and 4Motion delivers 140 kw and 320 Nm. It takes just 7.2 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 km, with top speed being 216 km. The T-roc will officially go on sale from November and pricing will only be announced this month.
