ECOSPORT GOES BLACK
When manufacturers start pumping out special editions of best-seller models, be assured that its next-generation replacement is not far off … The Ford Ecosport, until quite recently the segment leader in the compact sport utility vehicle (CSUV) segment, has just been given this treatment with the introduction of the limited-edition Ecosport Black – and we do know the new Ecosport is on its way (it is rumoured to reach our shores early next year …)
So, what does this special package include? Based on the Ecosport Ambiente 1.5 Auto, the Black – as its name suggests – receives several dark-hued feature enhancements, including a front grille and skid plate finished in black, a bold black decal insert on the upper section of the engine hood, and a black painted roof with integrated black roof rails.
The side view is dominated by 16inch black alloy wheels (replacing the 15inch steel rims on the standard Ambiente), black side decals and mirror caps, while the rear of the vehicle features a black spare wheel cover as standard. The Ecosport Black is available in a wide selection of colours, such as Diamond White, Moondust Silver,
Smoke, Blue Lightning, and Canyon Ridge.
As with the Ambiente, the Ecosport Black is powered by a 1.5litre threecylinder petrol engine (91 kw and 151 Nm of torque) mated to a sixspeed automatic gearbox, and comfort and convenience features include electric windows, manual aircon, electric powersteering, and Ford SYNC with Bluetooth and Voice Control integrating the multimedia entertainment and phone functions.
The Ecosport Black 1.5 6AT is now available at R336 900, including a fouryear/120 000 km warranty and fouryear/60 000 km service plan.
