That’s how lo­cal fit­ness trainer Richard Wool­rich once de­scribed the glute mus­cle. It’s pretty much the pow­er­house of the body, and when prop­erly en­gaged, it can mean the dif­fer­ence be­tween plod­ding and run­ning. I’ve of­ten spent time try­ing to work on form, us­ing short in­ter­vals and strides to teach my body a bet­ter run­ning po­si­tion. But it of­ten comes down to my core and glute strength, if I want to re­ally im­prove form. So here’s a five-step process for how to en­gage your most im­por­tant run­ning mus­cle,
