BOTSWANA TO OFFER ALMOST 300 ELEPHANTS FOR HUNTING

-

In a bid to resuscitate its stalled hunting industry, the Botswana government has issued almost 287 hunting licences for elephant in the 2021 hunting season. Botswana was due to have commenced selective trophy hunting again in 2020 after it was closed by former President Ian Khama in 2014.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the country was unable to launch hunting in 2020 but 2021 looks like it will see the reinstatement of formal trophy hunting again.

Other animals also on offer include buffalo, leopard, and zebra, amongst others. Most of Botswana’s hunting clients have traditionally come from the United States, although some hunters also visited from as far afield as Russia, Spain and Eastern Europe.
