Arise from your debt bed

If you stumbled into the new year nursing a financial “hangover” brought on by excessive spending over the festive season, help is at hand: you can recover and rise from your debt bed.

At this month’s meeting of the acsis/personal Finance Financial Planning Club, Paul Leonard will help you to get a handle on how to manage your debt and finances wisely so that you can eliminate debt. Leonard’s presentati­on will focus on:

The best ways to reduce debt and save;

Helping you to determine where your money goes and how to develop a spending plan;

Debt management tools, including debt consolidat­ion;

Practical advice on developing and setting up an “emergency fund”;

Good credit versus bad credit; and

Differenti­ating between what you own and what you owe.

Leonard has a Certified Financial Planner accreditat­ion and is a five-time finalist in the Financial Planner of the Year competitio­n. Leonard is an executive director of Consolidat­ed Financial Planning.

The presentati­on will take place at the Wanderers Club, 21 North Street, Illovo, on Tuesday, February 28, at 5.30pm for 6pm.
