Dad hails venture as ‘Unbelievable’
ERT le Clos reckons his son’s new clothing line is “unbelievable”. The South African swimming sensation presented his own surf wear clothing line in Dubai this week, shortly after his triumph at the Fina Swimming World Cup Series.
Le Clos senior says he feels immensely proud of Chad’s achievements, in and out of the swimming pool.
“I’m so proud of my boy and all he has achieved,” Bert told the Saturday Star.
The Olympic Gold medallist and Commonwealth champion unveiled the C Le C clothing line at the Atlantis Hotel in Dubai on Wednesday.
“He works so hard and it is wonderful to see him doing so well,” said Bert.
“This new range is unbelievable,” her said.
Who would have thought that my son would have his own clothing range? It’s unbelievable,” the swim champ’s delighted dad said.
The 22-year-old swimmer’s new clothing line is split into two ranges: Unbelievable and Ready to Roar, and is a six-piece clothing collection.
B“The inspiration for Unbelievable comes from the moment I beat Michael Phelps to win gold at the London 2012 Olympics,” Chad told the Saturday Star. “It really was the most unbelievable moment of my life, and the feeling that I had that day is reflected in the range.”
The Ready to Roar range, Chad says, is inspired by the day of his birth.
“My dad posted a notice in the paper to announce my birth that said: ‘The lion roared at 10.15am.’
“Ever since then my attitude to life is that of the lion I am always ready to compete, ready to roar.”
Chad’s long-time kit sponsor Arena and the swimmer himself worked together to develop state-of-the-art surf line for the new season.
Each range contains a hoody, rash vest, low waist short, mid-jammer surf belt and a pair of long Bermuda shorts.
“It was an opportunity that came up from my long relationship with Arena who are my kit sponsor, but we wanted to do something unique,” said Chad.
“I love surfing and the beach so my own surf collection seemed to be perfect.”
