‘Hannibal Lecter’ caught eating woman’s eye

-

Security staff at a hostel for the homeless in Argoed, South Wales, became suspicious when Williams refused to let them enter the room.

They are said to have forced their way in, before calling the police, who knocked Williams to the ground with the Taser.

Gwent Police confir med that Williams had been arrested and had soon after “became unresponsive”.

Paramedics tried to revive him, without success, and took him to hospital.

Williams had been released from prison two weeks ago, after serving half of a five-year prison sentence for attacking his partner.

Williams – known by the nickname Fifi – was staying at the former Sirhowy Arms Hotel, converted into a bail hostel.

He is said to have only just met the woman before asking her back to the hostel for a drink. The woman died of her injuries.

Police were carrying out forensic tests on a silver BMW, parked outside the hostel and believed to belong to Williams.

Residents have dubbed Williams “Hannibal Lecter” after the fictional cannibal character.

Gwent Police have refused to provide further details about how the pair died or to confirm if they were staying at the hostel.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been called in to oversee the inquiry because a Taser was used and Williams died. – The Independent
