Come fight with me – beaten host throws dinner guests out

- IZZY FERRIS

WHEN entertaining at a dinner party, the host is usually on his best behaviour. But not so for Come Dine With Me contestant Peter Marsh, who shouted at his guests in a series of vicious tirades before ordering them to leave.

The 43-year-old salesman was taking part in the reality TV show in which strangers take tur ns throwing dinner parties for each other. Viewers hailed Monday night’s episode in Britain as “brilliant”, after Marsh threw a tantrum when he learned he’d finished last and missed out on the £1 000 (R23 500) prize.

Policewoman Jane Smith, 36, received the highest score from fellow guests for her dinner earlier .

Shaking his head and staring at his rival, he said: “You won, Jane. Enjoy the money. I hope it makes you very happy. Dear Lord. What a sad little life, Jane. You ruined my night completely so you could have the money. I hope now that you spend it on getting some lessons in grace and decorum, because you have all the grace of a reversing dump truck without any tyres on.”

Fellow contestant Charlotte Hughes, 23, looked nervous as she told their host, “I don’t get it,” – to which he snapped, “Well you wouldn’t. Let’s be honest; there’s no one in there, love.”

As he shot a glance down the camera lens, he asked his fellow contestants to leave the house. Marsh, who had served a pecorino salad, slow-roasted rib of beef and a trio of desserts, then told the camera: “It’s a travesty that I didn’t win, an utter travesty. The best food, the best presentation, the best table, and I got graded under Adam, who produced a plate of vomit; under Charlotte, who served up rancid chewy pork and under-cooked brownie. So I lose and she wins. I hope she enjoys her money.”

The dramatic ending to the popular programme sparked a huge reaction on Twitter. One fan commented: “That episode of Come Dine With Me was so brutal, so awkward, so brilliant.” Another added: “And the world’s worst loser of 2016? Peter Marsh.”

Marsh was awarded 14 points out of 30, leaving him in last place.

Upon discovering the result, he ordered his fellow diners to “get off my property!”
