Saturday Star

WE ARE HERE FOR YOU

-

AT THE Saturday Star, we have always lived by the mantra that a great newspaper is a community talking to itself.

We pride ourselves on our closeness to you, our readers and advertisers, which is why we’ve listened to your concerns.

Last year, your newspaper along with all the other newspapers in the Independent Media group went through a fundamental restructure which, while necessary, also led to a number of unforeseen circumstances as a number of senior and experienced colleagues opted to leave.

Two beloved contributors to the Saturday Star, Brendan Seery and Theo Garrun, were among them. Over and above their regular jobs beyond the Saturday Star, Brendan used to produce and write Media and Marketing and Theo produced our unique School Sports supplement, as a labour of love.

There was a huge undercurrent of concern among you, our readers, when School Sport and Media and Marketing failed to appear once we began publishing again this year.

I am pleased to inform you that from this week you can look forward to Brendan and his incredibly popular Orchids & Onions column unpacking the hits and misses of the ad industry every week.

Theo, the only former deputy school principal and Craven Week coach that we know working as a journalist, will be back showcasing the cream of our young sports stars on school playing fields and swimming pools.

Thanks for remaining loyal and for keeping us on our toes.

Please keep in contact, you are, after all, the reason we do what we do. KASHIEFA AJAM Editor, Saturday Star
