THE ROOT OF CHAOS

-

AT THE State of the Nation address, we witnessed that it was the EFF MPs who disrupted Parliament. Owing to this disruption, the president’s speech was delayed for more than an hour. There should be condemnation of such disruption by all of us. The EFF MPs violated the constitution on Thursday, and not the ANC.

After previous instances of disruption by the EFF, it was obvious that parliamentary processes could no longer proceed as usual. As such, security had to be improved. There was, therefore, nothing wrong with Parliament increasing its security.

After the threat by the EFF to take power by the barrel of the gun, the government would not have been at fault to be on high alert with respect to security.

The footage from Parliament shows it was EFF MPs who were violent, and not the parliamentary security services who tried to usher EFF MPS out peacefully.

The EFF assaulted the security personnel with everything they could lay their hands on, including helmets.

It now needs to be considered whether helmets should be banned from Parliament.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with criticising President Zuma for any of his acts. However, we must be factual about the events of this year’s State of the Nation address. Facts are sacred, opinion is free!
