ANYBODY with the mammoth task of parenting teenagers knows how difficult it is to get into the “cool parent” category. So when my usually difficult teenage daughters said in unison, “Mommy, if you dropped us off at school in this car all the girls would think we have a cool mom”, I took note.

They were referring to the VW Touareg 3.0 V6 4x4 we had just picked up at the dealership in Sandton.

We were getting ready for a road trip to the Mapungubwe National Park in Limpopo the next day. The drive from Sandton to our home in Melville had never felt so smooth.

The first thing that hit me was the smell of the Vienna leather seats. The black-and-silver interior screams luxury.

It also boasts plenty of legroom for passengers at the back. My girls are tall, as are my partner and I. There is always a legroom fight in my family. This time everyone was happy.

In the morning we filled the boot and found more than enough space for four people’s luggage. It was a five-day trip so you can imagine
