Primi Piatti: a wonderful experience

- LEBOHANGA MOSIA

PRONTO Primi Piatti Pretoria is situated in the Menlyn Precinct in the Waterkloof Glen Shopping Centre. While the menu is inspired by classic Italian food, it’s heavily influenced by the cosmopolitan presence with traditional, gourmet and comfort food offerings.

The dynamic, unpretentious atmosphere at Primi works for both serious business talk and social chit chat. It’s a good place for the family and an even better place for inspired get-togethers.

The food is a masterful display of culinary simplicity and complexity in perfect harmony, with all menu items freshly prepared from scratch. Meals are offered with the healthier options of preparation; with ingredients lightly sautéed, seared, grilled, cooked al dente and burgers ironpressed, ensuring the natural flavours and integrity of the ingredients are prominent.

With Primi’s evolved restaurant design, the kitchen has been exposed further. More focus has been placed on the energy of the bar with an improved cocktail and wine list offering. Another key feature of the restaurant is the new innovative wood-fired pizza oven. Primi’s new pizza ovens can reach temperatures of up to 450°C and turn out a perfectly baked pizza within 90 seconds, time after time.

A recent addition to the menu is Spuntini – a communal eating experience where you will find great snack foods. You can order a variety of flavourful dishes, share, dip and mix. Enjoy crispy chicken livers or Primi’s signature Peppadews poppers, or even better, Jamaican jerk chicken wings – before hitting the mains.

If you are looking for something with more substance, try the new extensive range of meat, chicken and fish dishes, or their assortment of burgers and pastas. The Murder by Meat pizza with spicy chorizo, piquante peppers, gypsy ham, bacon, tomato, mozzarella and salami is a best seller, as well as The G Banga burger with avocado salsa and Primi poppers.

If you’re a focaccia fiend, try the cheese and garlic loaf made of hand-pulled bread, baked with creamy garlic and full flavoured cheese, served with a tangy tomato preserve. For those who prefer seafood, the grilled Kingklip – served with mint, basil, coriander, garlic, chilli, lemon juice and olive oil on a bed of fresh rocket.
