MUSIC AND CULINARY EXPERIENCE

-

THIS weekend’s Dstv Delicious Food and Music Festival has been on the lips of food and music lovers alike since the list of exhibitors and performers was confirmed a few weeks ago. The 6th edition of the festival will be headlined by American neo-soul singer-songwriter Erykah Badu, pictured, at the Kyalami Grand Prix circuit in Midrand.

The musical line-up includes

New Zealand’s soul singer and multiinstrumentalist, Jordan Rakei, funk DJ collective Jazzanova, and the British acid jazz band, D’influence. Grammy award winner Louie Vega heads an impressive dance music line-up for the Vodacom Dance Arena, hosted by Oskido and Kaya FM, a stage which will open at 2pm today and tomorrow.

American DJ and record producer Todd Terry and South African dance music stars DJ Christos, Vinny Da Vinci, DJ Oskido, DJ Fresh and Greg Maloka round off the line-up.

Reuben Riffel, pictured, the South African chef best known as a judge on Masterchef South Africa, will be coheadlining alongside Badu. Riffel has achieved glowing success over the years with a host of accolades including Chef of the Year and Restaurant of the Year in the Eat Out awards and the prestigious Unilever Chef of the Year award.

The Delicious Mile, the festival’s gourmet street food market, offers festival-goers an extensive gastronomic experience. There’s also the Coca-cola Taste of the City, which will boast 10 pop-up restaurants serving up their flagship dishes, as well as several other pop-up stalls and food trucks.

Festival director Lloyd Cornwall said: “People want to see high-quality live music and enjoy amazing food at the same time. So what better way to experience this than over the Heritage

Day long weekend? The Dstv Delicious International Food and Music Festival attracts an estimated 40 000 visitors over the weekend due to unwavering standards of talent, production, safety and value for money. There is no other event in South Africa like the Dstv Delicious International Food and Music Festival.

“The event is also special because we’re committed to keeping it local. The tens of thousands of visitors to the festival spend their money on the hundreds of local food and drink outlets, which keeps the revenue generated by the local economy. We’re extremely proud that more than 80% of our supply chain is local.”

In the lead-up to the festival, Diageo’s flagship brands, Tanqueray and Johnnie Walker, revealed their spirit cocktail menu, which was specially curated by Chef Nti and Chef Coco at an exclusive luncheon at fine-dining restaurant, Epicure.

With several influential figures in attendance, including TV personality Mbali Nkosi, rapper Reason, entrepreneur and foodie Tebello Tibz Motsoane and stylist Tshepi Vundla, we enjoyed a five-course culinary experience paired with some delicious cocktails prepared by bespoke reserve brand ambassador Reginald Mthembu.

Judging from this experience, the Tanqueray and Johnnie Walker premium lounge is set to thrill with its artisanal cocktails expertly paired with some exceptional food options. All this will be set against the backdrop of worldclass music at one of the most eagerly anticipated festivals of the spring season. There’s only one place to be this weekend.
