Trump defamation suit can proceed

SOUTH African companies yesterday restated their commitment to supporting local soldiers sent for peacekeepi­ng in the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and other African states.

There are almost 1 500 South African soldiers who are deployed for peacekeepi­ng as part of the Force Interventi­on Brigade in the eastern DRC under the UN (Monusco).

During this year’s Goodwill Parcel Project in the DRC, the soldiers received packages of gifts and many other things to keep them occupied and entertaine­d.

The Goodwill Parcel Project has a R3 million budget from 19 companies who are sponsors to supply some cheer with gifts for soldiers who are servicing in peacekeepi­ng missions in different African states. | African News Agency (ANA) A New York appeals court ruled on Thursday that President Donald Trump isn’t immune from a lawsuit filed by Apprentice contestant, Summer Zervos, who accused him of unwanted kissing and groping. Judges on the Supreme Court Appellate Division said in their ruling the supremacy clause of the US constituti­on doesn’t require trials in state court to be delayed until the president is out of office. | ANA
