A-league swimmimg champs again

OVER the last couple of weeks Northcliff High’s swimming teams proved their mettle once again in the swimming pool.

On Thursday 28 February they swam in the A-league Inter-high gala at Delville pool in Germiston. An Eighteens victory in the 50 odd year history of this prestigiou­s swimming inter-high between Co-ed schools followed. The victory by 146 points is probably the largest ever. A total of 22 first positions (out of the 56 events ), 19 second and third positions respective­ly including an new record to top it all off, showed the dominance on the day. The following swimmers and relay teams attained first place:

Mixed Medley Relay: u14; u15; u17 Freestyle relay: u14; u15; u17

The U15 mixed medley relay swam a new record time at the gala.

Final positions:

5th – Trinity Northcliff – 446

4th – Fourways – 482

3rd – Crawford Sandton – 639 2nd – St Peters College – 702

1st Northcliff A – 848 winning with 146 points.

The stage for the A-team win was set by their B-swimming team: Competing against other schools’ A-teams, the B-swimming team walked away with a convincing victory on 26 February in the Division 1 E-league. Scores:

5th – Marist Brothers Linmeyer A – 484 points

4th – Maragon A - 575

3rd - Randburg A – 597

2nd – Kind David Linksfield A – 703

1st Nothcliff B – 745 winning with 42 points

On Friday 1st March Northcliff C-swimming team swam in the Division 2 B-league gala. Following the success of the A and B teams respective­ly they showed tremendous guts and determinat­ion and ended up coming second amongst a whole host of A-teams.

2nd Northcliff C: 339

1st Bishop Baven A: 390 EDENVALE High School is proud to have teachers who are acknowledg­ed as number one in the district. The following teachers received district awards for excellent matric results. Edenvale High School stands out as a top school because of teachers like these.
