In five years time, another scheme to stay in power?

- PETER BACHTIS

WILL this election herald a new dawn for the ANC and the country? No! In 5 years time, the ANC will again beg the masses to give them another chance. Nothing will change.

Will the police arrest people like Jacob Zuma, Duduzane Zuma, Gavin Watson, Ace Magashule and all the other thieves and criminals involved in looting the state?

Will the Guptas face justice? Will the 10 000 dysfunctional, thieving cadres in charge of all the ANC run government departments, municipalities and SOES be dismissed, prosecuted and jailed?

Will the ANC drop its dangerous socialist plans for nationalising the Reserve Bank, the farms and a larger portion of the mining industry which is in decline due to the socialistic rent-seeking Mining Charter?

Will the National Health Scheme be shelved? Will AA and B-BBEE be reformed to prevent further corruption? Will crime be brought under control?

Will our schools and hospitals become functional? Will load shedding be a thing of the past? Will our trains be safe and arrive on time? Will municipal services be delivered?

I doubt any of these reforms will be undertaken. One swallow does not maketh a summer, neither do a few commissions of enquiry maketh a reformed ANC. The looting will continue for another 5 years.

In 5 years time, with support declining, and coalition politics looming, the ANC will come up with another scheme to remain in power. But for how long will it be able to bamboozle the electorate?
