St Stithians strike

- WATER POLO Full team:

THE St Stithians Girls’ College 1st Water Polo Team won the gold medal at the Brian Baker Kingswood 1st Team National Water Polo Tournament this past weekend.

They beat Reddam, Constantia

10-3 in the final of the competitio­n. With this win, the St Stithians Girls’ College 1st Team now hold every title in South African Schools Water Polo, an achievemen­t that has never occurred in the history of girls’ Water Polo in South Africa.

Many of these tournament­s they have already won multiple times but never all in one season - no team has ever done this. Said Coach Pierre Le Roux: “This team has not lost a game since the Saints Water Polo Invitation­al final in 2018. An absolutely incredible achievemen­t by the most dedicated group of girls I have ever had the privileged of coaching.

“Not only are they dedicated in the pool, but they are recipients of multiple academic awards, cultural awards and participat­e in winter sports. This past weekend, every girl woke up at 6.15am every morning to do school work.
