#ATYPICALINTERVIEW: SAMEER NAIK

-

RADIO and TV presenter, voice-over artist and social influencer Khutso Theledi is best known for being the Afternoon Drive Time host of The Lady On Drive on popular radio station YFM.

She is also popularly known as a “spinning” lady. She is not just a regular presenter but also a multitalented MC and motivational speaker.

You’re stuck in a lift with Helen Zille. What’s the first thing you ask her?

There would be an awkward moment of silence in that lift.

The biggest misconception people have of you is .... ?

Truthfully speaking, I don’t know all the misconceptions about me. I’ve learned that as you get older, one may not have time to correct those who don’t want to understand who you truly are. Family, friends, and those close to me know me inside and out, and no naysayers can take away who I am.

I’m far from perfect, and therefore, my job is to not change people’s misconceptions but to live life with purpose, and allow those who truly want to know me, know me, and if they don’t, then they don’t.

You are able to co-host a radio show with any radio host in the world. Who do you choose and why?

My first choice would be Metro

FM’S breakfast show host Mo-flava, but I have been blessed to work with him as his co-host for almost four years. But If I had to choose again, it would definitely have to be Zoe Ball, who is the current presenter of BBC Radio 2’s breakfast show and holds the honour of having become the BBC’S first solo female presenter for Radio 1.

Your favourite restaurant is? And what do you order?

Café Del Sol. This is one of the best Italian restaurants, with exceptional

Italian food. I’ve enjoyed every time we’ve gone there. From their Italian style chicken livers, creamy chicken pasta, seafood risotto and their sweet life, la dolce vita dessert – Tiramisu semifreddo.

If you were stuck on a desert island with one SA celeb, who would you pick?

Prince Kaybee

Your fondest memory as a teenager was...?

Moving to Johannesburg in 2005. I was 14-years-old going to an all-girls School, St Mary’s Waverly Girls. Being blessed to attend one of the best schools in the country. Having the opportunity to learn so much about life from a girl’s perspective.

What is the one thing that has grabbed your attention on social media in the last week?

The talkable topic this week that grabbed my attention was the Twitter user who shared her sad experience of how she lost her cellphone and bank card at the Mall of Africa, with a syndicate hacking into her bank account, cleaning it out. This left a bad taste in my mouth – it’s like we are not safe anywhere.

You are only allowed to shop at one store for the rest of your life. Which store do you choose?

I would have to say Puma. Being one of the world’s largest sportswear apparel, and everyone knows I love my gym wear. However, life without Woollies would be dramatic!!!

You are invited to take part in a 12-round boxing match with any celebrity in South Africa. Who do you choose?

Nicole Bessick. She is an asskicking “action barbie” and celebrity boxing champ who knocks out real people for fun. LOL! Nicole is a full package wonder woman boxing queen in my eyes and someone who holds her own and smashes male-dominated spaces. Going 12 rounds with a woman who is driven, breaks boundaries and inspires me through her every punch would be worth the knock-outs.

The worst date you've ever had?

I don’t know why I thought going to Gold Reef City would be a great idea for a date, but The Tower Of Terror literally blew me and my wig away. Walking around trying to find my wig after that with a guy I really liked was a different kind of walk of shame.
