KZN
WITH the recent politically motivated killings in Kwazulu-natal, the province’s former premier, Willies Mchunu, has called for stronger intelligence capacity to effectively deal with political killings in the province.
Mchunu was speaking during a TV interview this week where he said that effective intelligence would make the work of the state easier in nabbing those who are behind the killings.
In recent weeks KZN has seen seven such killings, including three women who died in a drive-by shooting in Inanda, north of Durban, while attending an ANC meeting. | Political Bureau

On Monday, eligible voters will elect 10 461 councillors to take seats in 257 different municipal councils comprising eight metros, 44 district councils and 205 local councils.
With more than 26 million South Africans registered to participate in the elections, the IEC is gearing itself to release the results on Thursday. | Political Bureau
Treasury
FINANCE Minister Enoch Godongwana says neither he nor the Treasury is party to the salary dispute between the SA Revenue Service (Sars), its commissioner and the Public Servants Association (PSA). The PSA was seeking an order directing Godongwana to make an allocation of funds to Sars to implement salary adjustments for its employees for the 2021/22 financial year. “The Treasury does not have the authority to approve a budget and allocation for Sars,” said director-general Dondo Mogajane. | IOL
