Cape Town was the place to ring in the New Year for A-listers
AS 2021 wrapped up, several of Mzansi’s A-listers were spotted in the Mother City enjoying the good life, the ultimate “na enjoyment”.
And Cape Town made sure to provide the good weather and the lighting for holidaymakers’ snaps.
By New Year’s Eve, celebrities the likes of Somizi Mhlongo, Lerato Kganyago, Boity, DJ Zinhle, Jessica Nkosi, Ntokozo “TK” Dlamini, Moozlie, Thabsie, Kefilwe Mabote and DJ Shimza were in the city.
Even the EFF’S Julius Malema was spotted in Cape Town enjoying the water. The politician was seen on a jet ski, celebrating his 7th anniversary with his wife, Mantwa Matlala.
Media personalities Unathi Nkayi and Minnie Dlamini-jones set social media alight with their take on the challenge of the summer, the Nkao Tempela Challenge – and the ladies looked good doing it. The video has been viewed over 100 000 times on Jones’ Instagram page.
American rapper Jidenna was spotted hanging out with Unathi and Minnie.
Trevor Noah was in Cape Town with his girlfriend, US actress Minka Kelly, and his friends, among them Anele Mdoda and Sizwe Dhlomo.
Cassper Nyovest, at the launch of his alcohol range Don Billiato, brought along his new baby, a white Mclaren. Nyovest got himself the expensive ride on his birthday in black on his birthday but later changed it to white.
The rapper had the car waiting for him at the airport. He shared a video of his arrival in Cape Town.
TV personality and cookbook author Somizi Mhlongo and close friends would enjoy the next seven days in the Mother City in a R55k a night villa.
He took to Instagram to show off the spectacular Llandudno Rock Villa, an immaculately furnished architectural masterpiece on the natural rock outcrop on the Llandudno shore.
The villa overlooks a ragged coastline dotted with bays of brilliant white sand and turquoise water. The house is listed as having “4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 2 garages, a swimming pool and wi-fi”, and is said to offer a “piece of paradise” with absolute privacy, where no expense has been spared for the finest Italian furniture.
Popular Johannesburg venue, Konka Soweto also invaded Cape Town’s shores. The Konka Summer Tour kicked off the year in Cape Town at the newest and hottest lifestyle spot, Cabo Beach Club.
Cabo Beach Club is located where the Shimmy Beach Club used to be and the cosmopolitan beach hangout has become a favourite in the city since opening its doors in November.
Konka is known to host some of Mzansi’s coolest performers, and for tables decked with expensive bottles of champagne and other alcohol.
The event was hosted by Pearl Thusi and influencer Mihlali Ndamase, with one of the hottest amapiano duos on the decks, Scorpion Kings.
Mihlali, per her Instagram Stories, had a lit time as she hung out with fellow Youtuber, Lasizwe Dambuza.
Lasizwe shared with his followers ahead of his attendance shots of him getting ready, which included the moment he went underwear shopping for his G-string for his Uncle Wafflesinspired outfit.
Cape Town was certainly the place to ring in the New Year.
