Opening Lead: ♠K. Dummy’s ♠A wins. What now?

Recommended Line: You are pleased to find that East could not ruff at trick one. But you know East is unlikely to hold another spade. So, if West wins a heart trick, he will lead three more spades. If you ruff the fourth spade high in dummy, East will probably over-ruff. That leads to defeat. To avoid this situation, you have to imagine a layout in hearts which allows you to prevail. You need one of the defenders to hold the singleton ♥Q, or East to hold a doubleton heart, headed by the ♥A. So, to cover either case, lead low to the ♥K at trick two. Ignore what you cannot control.
