MEDICAL AID

-

About 20 000 SA Post Office workers, plus dependants and pensioners, whose Medipos Medical Scheme cover was suspended this month after the Post Office failed to pay over R700m in contributions, are desperately awaiting reinstatement, news sources reported this week. Medipos took action to recover about R60m of the arrears. “Once the sheriff confirms receipt of the funds, the scheme will immediately lift the suspension of benefits,” Medipos told its members. “The Post Office has been deducting medical aid contributions from its employees’ salaries and simply ran away with the money. This is fraud on the most enormous scale,” DA MP Dianne Kohler Barnard was quoted as saying.
