Tackle DIY projects one at a time

-

WHEN we move into a different home, we often go with preconceived ideas about the alterations that need to be done.

Before rushing in and starting to knock down walls, give yourself at least six months to get used to your new surroundings to see whether your initial thoughts were correct, and then when you finally have a plan, tackle the ideas or alterations one at a time.

There is nothing worse than having three or four areas all under construction at the same time, especially if you are tackling a lot of the work yourself. There is only so much you can do after work or over a weekend, and putting yourself under unnecessary pressure takes the joy out of DIY, and often also spoils the end result.

Mrs Mac has learnt over the years that if she lets me proceed at my own pace ,we will eventually get to where we wanted to be, and I will still have a big smile on my face.
