The mayor of Moscow has de­creed that a square near the SVR for­eign in­tel­li­gence ser­vice head­quar­ters be named af­ter Kim Philby, pic­tured. Philby, a Bri­ton, was con­sid­ered the most suc­cess­ful Soviet dou­ble agent dur­ing the Cold War. He re­signed from MI6 in 1951 and de­fected to the Soviet Union in 1963, where he died in 1988. |
