The moving of the seasons means one thing: change. We’ve been faced with so much change over the last 13 months that it’s hard to believe we can handle any more! Soon the last of the warmer days will be replaced with cooler, cloudier ones, and fruity cocktails will be replaced with red wine or perhaps a whisky or two in front of a fire.

In this last month of Autumn, I wanted to shine a light on some of the things that I think you’ll need to get through the upcoming winter season! I like to call this the ‘Ultimate Winter Checklist’. As our magazine is now online, you can click the live links below, and you’ll be taken to the products’ respective online shops! What a marvel.

THE ULTIMATE WINTER CHECKLIST Plenty of Red Wine

We’re particular fans of the Tokara Reserve Collection Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, Rupert & Rothschild Baron Edmond 2016, the Delheim Merlot 2018, the Kanonkop Black Label Pinotage 2018 and the Alto Shiraz 2017.

Winter Skincare

There are all sorts of sensational local brands creating some pretty sensational skincare ranges. Our favourites include SKOON Skincare, Hey Gorgeous, Lamelle, and Lulu & Marula. Keep your skin in tiptop shape this winter!

Good-Quality Knitwear

A few brands have stepped up their knitwear offerings this season, and the vast majority are affordable! We love Poetry, Woolworths, Country Road, and Truworths.

Coffee, and Lots of It!

Supporting local brands is very important to me, and we are so lucky to have such wonderful options in the local world of coffee here in SA. By far, my favourite coffee is the Italian Hazelnut by

Terbodore, a small coffee company based in Franschhoek. Bean There also offers a great range of coffee. However, you’ll need a grinder to enjoy a cup of Bean There coffee!

Maybe a Chocolate or Twenty?

Did you know that Lindt has an online store in SA? Well, they do, and I might be gaining weight this winter because of it. It’s insanely hard not to order yourself a hamper to get you through the dark mornings and the cold days of an SA winter.

Plan a Holiday

There are so many sensational winter holiday options in South Africa. Escape to a secluded cabin, enjoy the coastal regions without the crowds and make sure you get yourself a fireplace! Some of our favourites include Wolwehoek Reserve, Nima Lodge, and Naries Namakwa Retreat.

Honestly, my list could go on forever, but I think I’ve covered all bases in my choices above. Good luck with the first of the cooler months, everyone!
