Vino for a Good Cause
The Rhino Tears wine initiative donates R15 from every bottle of wine sold towards antipoaching projects in South Africa’s national parks. To date, the initiative has raised over R1.3 million for the conservation of rhinos. Now, Rhino Tears has introduced the newest addition to their collection: A Sauvignon Blanc produced by the Mt Vernon estate. Wine lovers can expect hints of nettle and freshly cut grass on the nose, gooseberry and tropical fruit on the palate, all complemented by a well-structured zesty, dry finish. “Every bottle purchased really makes a difference. The cost of the anti-poaching war is expensive and the men and women involved need all the help they can get against a ruthless enemy,” explains Mt Vernon MD, John Hooper, who came up with the idea for making a wine that could contribute to the cause.
