Wines of True Character

-

Nuy Wine Cellar, situated in the picturesque Nuy River Valley near Worcester in the Western Cape, has built a legacy based on masterfullycrafted wines inspired by the exceptional terroir of the valley as well as extraordinary winemaking skills.

The selection of Nuy vintages includes the Inspiration, Mastery, and Legacy ranges.

The Inspiration range offers a wide choice of quality Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and sweeter Muscadel bubbly. The Mastery range treats your palate to the more complex pick of Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pinotage. Nuy Wine Cellar’s flagship range, Legacy, consists of a white and a red blend, Nuy’s maiden MCC, the celebrated Muscadel, and a potstill brandy.

Top awards won in 2017 were: Top preformer in the fortified class at the Veritas Awards, and African Cellar Supplies MCC Trophy for their Nuy Legacy Celine - the best MCC on show at the Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards.

The Nuy label is a combination of the coats of arms of neighbouring Worcester and Robertson with a depiction of the Nuy tasting room and restaurant, Nuy on the Hill, in the background.

With the cellar being located slightly off the beaten track, Nuy saw the need for a specialist venue closer to the popular R60 route and thus, Nuy on the Hill was conceptualised. The idea was not only to make Nuy wines more accessible to the general public and specifically the R60 traffic, but also to match the fine wine experience with a perfect balance of delicious food set in a relaxed atmosphere.

In creating Nuy on the Hill, wood and stone elements were used in keeping with the natural surroundings complemented by the breathtaking views across the Nuy Valley. The venue features a state-of-theart wine-tasting room, a top restaurant run by Danette Thompson and Chef Wilna van der Westhuizen, as well as a deli. A spacious patio surrounded by lush green lawn provides ample seating and a beautiful setting where patrons can enjoy a wide choice of restaurant dishes, ranging from tapas, wood fired pizzas, hamburgers, and steaks, to a selection of Banting dishes.

The deli is stocked with a variety of preserved products sourced locally and from afar, homebrewed coffees, freshly baked breads, and speciality pastries. Patrons are invited to enjoy their purchases either as a takeaway, or in a picnic setup, while keeping an eye on their kids conquering the on-site jungle gym.

A mountain-bike route is also on offer, and cyclists can make use of the bike-washing station as well as the showers located on the premises.

Opening hours for Nuy on the Hill is Mondays to Fridays from 09h00 to 17h00, and Saturdays and Sundays from 09h00 to 16h00.
