In a Class of its Own

Anew era in luxury living will soon be introduced with the launch of Steyn City’s magnificent new development, the City Centre. The City Centre is at the core of the renowned lifestyle resort’s recently revealed Vision 2020 – a strategy which outlines the exciting way in which Steyn City will evolve over the coming year. One such development is the launch of Steyn City’s app; this ground-breaking technology enables communication with residents on a new level. “For example, Steyn City dwellers can make reservations at the golf club or restaurant, search for lost property using a unique QR code, log a fault, create their own interest groups, as well as plot a multitude of track and trail options, depending on their preferred sport, fitness level and goal distance. These are a few of many other services available,” says Tammy Menton, Group Head of Marketing and Events at Steyn City.

It is, however, the resort’s luxurious City Centre that has already grabbed the attention of property buyers and investors alike. “We’ve taken the luxury with which Steyn City is synonymous and combined it with the ultimate convenience to create a lifestyle that really has no compare,” says Giuseppe Plumari, CEO of Steyn City Properties. “You can literally go from riding your horse in the countryside or playing a round of golf, to hopping in a helicopter to be at a meeting within no time at all.”

Plumari is referring to the heliport that is one of the many prestigious additions to Steyn City. Notable for its size and scale, the heliport will offer a complete service

– from coffee bars to business suites – for busy executives balancing the demands of their lifestyle.

City Centre is, however, also about living a life of leisure. This is made apparent from the moment you enter the pedestrianised development, where magnificent treelined parks and bustling piazzas offer life at a languid pace. The complete absence of cars also adds to the peace and tranquillity. This was made possible thanks to a design that includes a megabasement capable of accommodating up to 2,000 cars in great style. Unlike most such structures, the basement is flooded with light and air because of its high ceilings and the inclusion of green areas. The 18 lift cores have been aesthetically designed, incorporating elements like wood and steel, making it easy to find your way around. The lift cores transport residents either to their homes, the central park, the piazza, or one of the rooftop pools. One of the most breath-taking features of the basement is the glass-fronted garages which transform something utilitarian into a showcase for gorgeous vehicles.

Speaking of breath-taking, one of the most noteworthy features at City Centre is the 300 m Clearwater lagoon, designed and built by GAST Clearwater. It’s this – one of the only residential lagoons in South Africa – that lifts Steyn City from the ranks of lifestyle community to a resort that rivals any of South Africa’s best-loved coastal destinations. Think exclusive beach areas, paddling facilities and beach-style kiosks.

As for the homes, over 700 apartments have been given very special treatment, with Blu-line kitchens fitted with integrated

Gaggenau appliances and Kohler taps and sanitaryware. Then there are the 11 penthouses. Two of these homes in the sky, together with six luxury apartments, break boundaries in terms of design. The cream of South Africa’s décor industry have been selected to provide a new interpretation of South African luxe with global appeal.

Tying the development together is a variety of amenities of the calibre residents have come to expect of Steyn City. In addition to the Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course and equestrian centre, bistro and informal restaurants, kilometres of promenade for walking, running and cycling, children’s play areas and a number of workout options (including a well-equipped gym and outdoor workout stations), the City Centre will enable residents to dine at a number of five-star establishments and exclusive eateries.

The first 220 apartments at the City Centre will be released for purchase later this year – an event which Plumari is confident will change the way South Africans think about property. “We’re exceptionally excited about the launch of City Centre, and the new dimension it will add to Steyn City. Already known as a destination in itself – thanks to the presence of our world-class Steyn City Schools campus and AAA Grade offices at Capital Park – we have yet to introduce another element that entrenches our parkland residence in a class of its own.”
