Mamelodi Sundowns are believed to be keen on pushing for a move for Luckyboy Mokoena in January, as the Chloorkop-based club is expected to beef up their squad for the second half of the season.

It was recently reported by the Siya crew that Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs have both been keeping tabs on the defender following his impressive perform- ances for Highlands Park.

Mokoena has played in all of the Lions of the North’s competitive matches this season, and a lot of the team’s success has been attributed to the 24-year-old. With the interest escalating, a well-placed source has indicated to the Siya crew that Downs are positioning themselves to edge Amakhosi to the player’s signature, if all goes according to plan during the up- coming weeks.

“Sundowns is interested in signing Mokoena from Highlands Park. Highlands Park know about the interest in the player as it is something that has been discussed. Sundowns is interested in signing the player in the next transfer window in January,” said the source.

Mokoena, 24, joined the Lions of the North in January this year from NFD side Real Kings.
