GUMEDE’S SALARY DEMANDS AN OBSTACLE?
A Former Cape Town City defender is still on the hunt for a new club, but it seems that his salary demands are currently standing in the way of him landing a new deal.
City parted ways with Tshepo Gumede on June 30, after the club opted against extending the player’s stay further. However, a few months into being a free agent, the 27-year-old is yet to find a new club, with sources revealing that the centre-back’s salary demands may be too high.
Sources have added that Highlands Park were believed to be interested in the player’s services, though opted against signing him due to the player’s salary demands.
Bloemfontein Celtic, SuperSport United and Free State Stars are all still showing an interest in the player – however, with the 2018/19 domestic campaign in full swing, it remains to be seen whether the 27-year-old defender will be willing to lower his salary demands.
Gumede was previously on the books of SuperSport, Platinum Stars, Orlando Pirates and City, where he went on to help the Citizens clinch their first ever Telkom Knockout trophy in 2016 under the mentorship of coach Eric Tinkler.
