Solinas – Never Chiefs’ first choice…

Kaizer Motaung, speaking to the media in September, gave some insight into the hiring process that went on at Naturena, admitting that Solinas wasn’t their first choice when it came to appointing a head coach.

He said, “He wasn’t top of the list, I must confess. But we’ve lost one or two very good ones for obvious reasons at the time, because it’s not so easy for any team to get top coaches in the continent.

“Because you also have to compete against the Arab countries. I can tell you two coaches that should have come here – the first one we missed (by) just two days, when we had come to an agreement he had to go because he was offered a job in Qatar. And they are talking big dollars there, you can’t compete.”
