REST IN PEACE, ERROL BURGERS
The South African football fraternity has been dealt yet another blow, following the death of Errol Burgers, a respected football administrator.
In confirming Burgers’ passing last week, the South African Football Association (SAFA) announced that the 71- year- old passed away on Tuesday morning at the Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital after suffering from stroke.
Burgers had been the President of Northern Suburbs LFA, while he also served on the Western Province Football Board, during the many years of his football administration work.
As confirmed by SAFA, Burgers had been awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Region in 2016, while he had also been handed Honorary Membership in 2017, before being awarded a Lifetime Achiever Award by the Cape Town Sport Council this year for his contribution to the game.
SAFA President, Danny Jordaan, is one of the top football administrators in the country that remembered Burgers for his contribution to the local game when the news of his death broke last week.
Soccer Laduma send our heartfelt condolences to Burgers’ family during this difficult time of bereavement.
