THAPELO LIAU ON NETSHIOZWI

-

“Oh! What a player! What a great human being! Abednego was recruited from Mabopane Young Masters. He used to give us a difficult time in midfield when playing against them. When he signed with Ria Stars, he ended up playing as a defender because it was difficult to break my combination with Thabang Lebese, Frank Makua and Sidney Moshikaro. The first time I saw Abednego off the field, I just saw a tsotsi, not a footballer, ha, ha, ha. The way he walks, you would think he’s going to stab you with a knife. You would never hear him complaining – he was a true professional and a very good disciple of football. The only problem is he doesn’t know which foot he’s using. I remember one time he was going to kick a penalty. He ran towards the ball and stopped before kicking it – he was not sure whether to kick with the left or the right foot, as he was using both feet equally. He was not a talkative person. Great soccer player and wonderful person.”
