CITY EXERCISE RALANI OPTION
Cape Town City have extended the stay of one of their star players, Surprise Ralani.
Ralani returned to his home country in January this year and subsequently put pen to paper with Cape Town City in his first professional contract in the Premier Soccer League.
On his arrival, City signed the player on an 18-month deal, which included an option, and is now expected to come to an end on June 30, next year.
However, according to Siya sources, the club had an added option in place, with sources confirming that City have since exercised the clause, extending Ralani’s stay for another year, with the former Helsingborg IF player’s deal now expected to come to an end on June 30, 2020.
Ralani has established himself as one of the key players in Head Coach Benni McCarthy’s side when fit.
Ralani, who is yet to score a competitive goal this season, has however contributed to three goals scored by the Mother City-based club in all competitions so far, proving to be influential in their attacking play.
Despite the player’s deal set to run for another year-and-a-half, indications are that if the 31-year-old continues with his fine form, City could look to tie down the player’s services for several more years, as seen with the likes of Craig Martin, Mpho Matsi and Thabo Nodada, who have all put pen to paper on long-term contracts at the club.
