Rhee never struggled to fit in

- Steve Lekoelea – Former Orlando Pirates midfielder

“Rhee was a wonderful guy and teammate on and off the field. He’s the same guy even now and we do meet up every now and then. We sometimes play together in the Legends’ games. Nothing has changed about him; he’s still a really good guy. Rhee was one of the best buys during our time at the club. He arrived and hit the ground running, unlike other players who move from small teams to big teams and struggle for a while before they start delivering or getting loaned out. He fitted into our team perfectly and contributed a lot to the team’s success during his stay. We were coached by Gordon Igesund and Victor Bondarenko respectively before Rhee went overseas. We were not surprised at all when FC Copenhagen signed him because of his quality. He was a real striker and I really wish we could find strikers like Rhee, people who are all about scoring goals and nothing else. What made Rhee stand out was his attitude and approach to life in general. He was a real hard worker who kept pushing everyone around him to give their best. His discipline was on another level on and off the field, as he was not involved in a lot of things. His main focus was football and his family. He was a true Buccaneer and I would really like to encourage our supporters to please vote for Rhee because he really, really worked his socks off for Orlando Pirates. Playing for Pirates is never easy because of all the pressure and expectations but Rhee, like I said, never struggled to fit in. He respected the club’s badge and knew what it meant to play for such a big team, which is why he always gave his best. I wish the current players can learn from people like Rhee, especially those who join big teams and start relaxing instead of fighting for their positions. Please, Bucs supporters, vote for this Legend.”
