Overseas clubs join Chiefs & Sundowns in Dove chase

-

The latest news reaching the Siya crew is that outfits from abroad are believed to be showing interest in the services of one of Cape Town City’s defenders.

Kaizer Ki Chiefs Chi f and dM Mamelodi l di Sundowns have both reportedly shown a keen interest in Edmilson Dove, though the two PSL giants have been joined in foreign interest for the player.

During the July/ August transfer window, it was revealed that City had rebuffed Amakhosi’s interest in the Mozambique international, saying no to any possible sale; however, the Soweto giants are believed to still be interested in the 24-year-old.

Now, according to the latest news filtering through from Siya sources, undisclosed clubs in USA’s Major League Soccer, France and in Turkey are keeping a close eye on Dove.

According to the sources, the player is being marketed abroad and indications are that there is solid interest in the player.

Despite sources close to the player confirming the interest, club chairman John Comitis revealed that he was unaware of it.

Dove is predominantly played at left back, though has slotted in at centre-back for City, proving his versatility in defence. The fact that he can play in both positions will be seen as a big advantage by his suitors.

Dove is under contract with City until 2022 and indications are that City’s management will not entertain any offers unless it makes business sense for them, and it has been suggested that the club will not look at any transfer fee under R4 million.

It may come down to which club is willing to pay the highest price, though for any deal to materialise, the player will have to agree on the move.
