MADUBANYA FACES UNCLEAR FUTURE AT BAROKA?

-

Experienced midfielder Letladi Madubanya is facing an unclear future with Baroka FC, according to sources close to the Limpopo-based outfit.

Baroka made history on the weekend by reaching their first-ever final in the PSL, after they beat Bidvest Wits 1-0 in their Telkom Knockout semi-final match at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.

While Madubanya did come on as substitute late in the match, it was his first appearance in Wedson Nyirenda’s team after a long absence. The central midfielder was a notable absentee from Baroka’s line-ups when they defeated Golden Arrows in the round of 16, as well as against Mamelodi Sundowns in the quarterfinals.

Prior to coming on against Wits, Madubanya had last played for Baroka in their Absa Premiership match against Orlando Pirates in September. Having initially captained the side and playing regularly, the 34-year-old has been limited to watching from the bench or excluded from match day squads altogether in recent matches.

An indication from sources close to Bakgaga is that the player could be affected by the squad changes expected to take place at the end of the season. Madubanya has been with Baroka since March of 2017, and prior to his arrival at Bakgaga, the experienced player had turned out for the likes of Platinum Stars, Bloemfontein Celtic, SuperSport United, Bidvest Wits and AmaZulu.
